<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the activity and corrosion resistance of a hydrogen storage alloy by optimizing the average grain size of a hydrogen storage alloy with a specified structure and the relation between the oxygen concentration and the average grain size of the hydrogen storage alloy. <P>SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy is composed of a component A composed of a rare earth element expressed by Ln and magnesium, and a component B composed of elements at least comprising nickel and aluminum. The alloy phase of the hydrogen storage alloy has an A<SB>2</SB>B<SB>7</SB>type structure and/or an A<SB>5</SB>B<SB>19</SB>type structure, and the product between the oxygen concentration α (mass%) and the average grain size β (μm) of the hydrogen storage alloy, α×β (mass%×μm) is higher than 25(mass%×μm) and lower than 56(mass%×μm): (25<α×β<56), and also, the average grain size β is lower than 25 μm(β<25). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
