<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process of a biaryl compound, enabling the reuse of a catalyst and not requiring an organic solvent. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the biaryl compound represented by general formula (3) includes subjecting a first aromatic compound represented by general formula (1) and a second aromatic compound represented by general formula (2) to a cross-coupling reaction in the coexistence of a palladium catalyst, an organic quaternary ammonium salt and water.
