<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing such a binder pitch for use in refractories as has little content of benzpyrene. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises charging a coal tar pitch 6 having a softening point of 110-120°C into a heater 3, then while continuing to heat the coal tar pitch at temperatures of 360°C or higher and to blow a preheated inert gas 8 into the heater at a rate of 0.05 Nm<SP>3</SP>/hour or more per kg of the coal tar pitch, and maintaining them therein for 500-1,500 minutes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
