<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a zirconia film formed on the peripheral roll surface of a hearth roll from being broken even in the case of conveying a high tension steel sheet containing much manganese (Mn) as an alloy element. <P>SOLUTION: The hearth roll is obtained by thermal-spraying mixed powder of zirconia (ZrO<SB>2</SB>) composed of stabilizing zirconia or partial stabilizing zirconia as the main component and manganese oxide (MnO<SB>2</SB>) powder as the additive agent.
