<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents a space under a cover member from being made narrower when the cover member is moved to an opening position. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a release cover 51 forming an outer surface of an apparatus main body part 10 and slide units 20 and 30 for sliding the release cover 51 between a closing position and the opening position projected from the apparatus main body part 10.
