PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and easily prevent generation of spatters due to unstable phenomenon of arc, generation of bead irregularity due to excessive concentration of arc, and bead discoloration and generation of wrinkles due to oxidization of a bead surface. SOLUTION: In an arc brazing method of a steel plate using a wire consisting essentially of copper and containing aluminum and using a shielding gas, there is used, as the shielding gas for the arc brazing, a mixed gas in which carbon dioxide is 0.07-0.5 vol.%, desirably 0.1-0.3 vol.%, with the balance consisting of argon in the shielding gas, or a mixed gas in which oxygen gas is 0.03-0.4 vol.%, desirably 0.05-0.18 vol.%, with the balance consisting of argon.
