PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a copy-protection pattern described in a remarkably unnoticeable state on a copy-protected document. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus detects the copy-protection pattern of specific color and specific shape included in image data. Therefore, the image processing apparatus includes a first specific color-detecting part 1 for detecting image data of the specific color about the copy-protection pattern of a relatively low concentration from the image data to output its binary data, a second specific color-detecting part 2 for detecting the image data of specific color about the copy-protection pattern of a relatively high concentration from the image data to output its binary data, and a specific shape detecting part 3, a detecting result adding part 4 and a positional relationship calculating part 5 for outputting data about existence or non-existence of the copy-protection pattern by detecting the specific shape of the copy-protection pattern from the binary data supplied from at least one of the first and second specific color detecting parts 1, 2.
