PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and easily liquefying a cellulose-based biomass into monosaccharides and liquid compounds except the monosaccharides in an extremely high inversion ratio without using a liquid strong acid such as sulfuric acid etc. SOLUTION: The method for liquefying a cellulose-based biomass includes a process for reacting a cellulose-based biomass raw material with a functional group on the surface of a carrier and hydrothermally decomposing the cellulose-based biomass raw material.
