PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition having little initial color development, excellent in transparency and heat stability, and having antibacterial activity, and a molded article composed thereof, and also to provide a transparent thermoplastic resin composition with antibacterial activity excellent in light fastness in addition to all these characteristics, and a molded article composed thereof. SOLUTION: The transparent thermoplastic resin composition excellent in antibacterial activity includes 100 pts.wt. of a transparent thermoplastic resin (A), 0.05-1.5 pts.wt. of an antibacterial agent (B) having a glass as an indispensable constituent eluting silver ions, 0.05-1.0 pt.wt. of a hindered phenol-based antioxidant (C), and optionally 0.05-1.0 pt.wt. of an ultraviolet absorbent (D) and 0-0.1 pt.wt. of a fluorescent whitening agent (E). The molded article composed thereof is also provided. The molded article obtained from the transparent thermoplastic resin composition having antibacterial activity is preferably applicable for entire use necessitating antibacterial activity without bringing about color change and transparency degradation. Hence, it is preferably used for a component of home electric appliances, stationary products, and the like, which require functions such as visibility, design properties, amenity, cleanliness, and safety.
