Interleukin-8 homologous polypeptides which bind to PRO842 and therapeutic uses thereof

Disclosed is an isolated antagonist antibody which specifically binds to a PR0842 polypeptide which comprises. (i) the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide shown in Figure 2 (SEQ ID NO:2); (ii) the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide shown in Figure 2 (SEQ ID NO:2), lacking its associated signal peptide, or (iii) the amino acid sequence encoded by the human protein cDNA deposited with the ATCC under ATCC accession number 203004; and inhibits the migration of monocytes and dendritic cells towards PR0842 polypeptide in a transwell migration assay. Also disclosed are methods of identifying compounds that inhibit the activity of PRO842, or that are agonsits of PRO842.
