<p>Spinning of a twistless bundle of fibres is effected by passing the bundle over a mobile, roughened surface, in a direction transverse to the direction of movement of the bundle. The bundle is gripped upstream by feeding means, such as drafting rollers, and downstream by delivery rolers. The bundle is transformed by a temporary false twist applied to it, to a spun prod resembling a 'sleeve' or sheath of intermingled and crimped fibres. A carrier yarn may be introduced for the sleeve. Process requires a spinning device of small dimensions, and capable of very fast speeds. The spinning device is inexpensive and easy to handle, and produces high yields. Fancy yarns having a wide variety of effects may be created. In such a prod the individual twist inserted in the product is very low, thus providing a bulky effect.</p> |
