Reliability for temperature detection of an armature winding is enhanced in a dynamo electric machine employing a concentrated winding system. In an armature (10), a groove (26) opening to the side opposite to a teeth (12) is provided in the insulating portion (22) of a coil of an insulator (20), and a hole (28) communicating with the groove (26) is provided in a portion (24a) for retaining a coil on the outside in the radial direction (R). A temperature sensor is inserted from the hole (28) and placed in the groove (26), and then the armature winding is shaped by winding a conductor thus securing the temperature sensor by tension of the conductor. Even if an armature coil urges the temperature sensor to the groove (26), the urging force is dispersed at the groove (26) and thereby the temperature sensor is protected against damage.
