PURPOSE: A system and method for cell equalization is provided to maximize charge and discharge power of a battery pack and to improve the performance of battery pack by boosting, bucking or shuffling of cell charging. CONSTITUTION: A method for cell equalization comprises the steps of: deciding each charge state of plural cells; deciding charge capacity of plural cells; and equalizing at least one of plural cells when at least one cell charging capacity among plural cells is smaller than that of the other cell over the selected critical value.
