<p>A carbon black aqueous dispersion exhibits excellent dispersibility in an aqueous medium and exhibits excellent rubbing resistance (quick-drying properties), discharge stability, and the like as an aqueous black ink for an inkjet printer or the like. The carbon black aqueous dispersion includes an aqueous medium and carbon black dispersed in the aqueous medium, acidic groups produced on the surface of the carbon black by liquid-phase oxidation being neutralized with a basic amino acid and a basic compound other than the basic amino acid, and hydrogen atoms of the acidic groups being replaced by the basic amino acid and the basic compound. The method of producing the carbon black aqueous dispersion includes subjecting carbon black to liquid-phase oxidation, removing reduced salts from the resulting slurry, neutralizing the carbon black with a basic amino acid and a basic compound other than the basic amino acid to replace hydrogen atoms of acidic groups by the basic amino acid and the basic compound, and purifying the resulting product.</p> |
