The invention relates to a method and to a system for measuring the wear of a catenary wire (14) of a railway track and to a railway vehicle (1400) comprising such a system. According to the invention, an electromagnetic field is generated by an inductor (2006) positioned in close proximity to a catenary wire (14). This electromagnetic field is disturbed by the catenary wire (14). Magnetic field detectors (2008) are positioned in close proximity to the catenary wire (14) and detect the electromagnetic field disturbed by the catenary wire (14). The wear and the position of the catenary wire (14) are calculated on the basis of the disturbance of the electromagnetic field and of a predetermined representation model (14).
