<p>A detent system that includes a plurality of detent recesses (26) formed in a first component, a detent pin (24) that selectively engages at least one of the detent recesses (26), a linkage (30) connected to the detent pin (24), and a detent button (22) that is associated with a second component. There is preferably a slot (36,90) formed in at least one of the detent button (22) and the detent pin (24), where each slot slidably receives an end portion (40, 80) of the linkage (30). The detent system is preferably configured and arranged such that applying a force to the detent button (22) to move the detent button (22) in a first direction causes the linkage (30) to move in a second direction, which is different than the first direction, thereby resulting in disengagement between an engaging portion (50) of the detent pin (24) and a relevant one, or more, of the detent recesses (26). Such disengagement allows for relative movement between the two components.</p> |
