An electrical connector include a housing holding a plurality of contacts, the contacts being configured to be electrically coupled to wires of a cable, and a strain relief element coupled to the housing. The strain relief element includes an end wall having an opening therein and a flexible beam extending axially inward from the end wall proximate to the opening and is configured to engage the cable. The flexible beam extends between a fixed end and a free end arranged within the opening. The flexible beam may be flexed about the fixed end to provide a normal force on the cable.
