INTEGRATED RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION AND STORAGE SYSTEMS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

An integrated converter/inverter system includes (1) a direct current bus for connecting to an array of photovoltaic cells without use of a voltage transforming device, (2) an alternating current bus for connecting to a load, (3) an energy storage bus for connecting to an energy storage subsystem, (4) an inverter or an inverter/charger connected between the direct current bus and the alternating current bus for interfacing the direct current bus with the alternating current bus, and (5) a DC-to-DC converter connected between the direct current bus and the energy storage bus for interfacing the direct current bus with the energy storage bus. The DC-to-DC converter supports bidirectional power transfer between the direct current bus and the energy storage bus.
