The invention provides a deformable package (1) for smoking articles having a smoking article access portion (3) and a closure element (5). The closure element is positioned at a location remote from the access portion so that it does not cover the access portion, but allows the package to be maintained in a folded state having reduced dimensions once smoking articles have been withdrawn from the package, thereby retaining the remaining smoking articles (7) more effectively.
