<p>A control valve (10) comprising a valve body (11) and a flow control means (13) preferably in the form of a disc, the valve body (11) defining at least one inlet passage (15), the inlet passage (15) culminating in an opening (17) which is surrounded at least partially by a flow control surface (19), and the flow control means (13) is so arranged as to be able to pass close to the flow control surface (19) and across the opening (17) to adjust the flow rate of at least one fluid which is caused to pass through the valve body (11), wherein the flow control means (13) is constrained within the valve body (11) by a stopping means (33,35), the stopping means (33,35) being adapted to allow a positive clearance to exist between the flow control means (13) and the flow control surface (19).
