PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR TREATMENT OR PREVENTION OF HBV INFECTION

The effect of a compound represented by formula (III) on an HBV-infected Huh-7 cell is examined, and it is found that the compound exhibits an anti-HBV activity in vitro by itself. It is also found that the inhibitory effect of PEG-IFN on the replication of an HBV having a type-C gene or type-A gene in a chimeric mouse carrying a human liver infected with the HBV can be enhanced when PEG-IFN is used in combination with the compound represented by formula (III), the inhibitory effect of entecavir on the replication of an HBV having a type-C gene (a wild-type strain or an entecavir-resistant strain) in a chimeric mouse carrying a human liver infected with the HBV can be enhanced when entecavir is used in combination with the compound represented by formula (III), and the compound represented by formula (III) can exhibit an anti-HBV activity against both an HBV wild-type strain and an HBV strain resistant to entecavir and/or lamivudine.
