PURPOSE: A power saving and highly reliable water hammering prevention system and an operating method thereof are provided to reduce power loss by executing valve opening and compressor operation only while a feed pump is in operation. CONSTITUTION: A power saving and highly reliable water hammering prevention system includes a control unit(100). The control unit opens a charge valve(50) and activates compressors(80,82) after a predetermined delay time when a feed pump(6) is in operation and the level in an air chamber(3) exceeds an upper limit, thereby charging compressed air into the air chamber until the level becomes normal. When the air chamber level is lower than a lower limit, the control unit opens an exhaust valve(60) after a predetermined delay time to discharge compressed air unltil the level becomes normal.
