Provided are a solid-state imaging element and a camera system capable of preventing the generation of invalid frames even when the shutter and gain are set simultaneously. The system has a pixel array unit (110) in which are arranged as a matrix multiple pixel circuits having a mechanism that converts optical signals to electrical signals and stores the electrical signals according to the exposure time, a pixel drive unit (120) capable of driving to provide shutter operation and readout of the aforementioned pixel unit according to setting data, and an interface unit (170) that includes a function to hold shutter setting data and gain setting data received from the outside and to control the timing at which the shutter setting and the gain setting are reflected at least by the pixel drive unit. Interface unit (170) includes a function whereby the gain is reflected in the next frame, one frame after being set.
