A sintered metal bearing, which can exhibit excellent sliding characteristics even in an oil-less environment, is produced at low cost. A mixed powder (6) obtained by mixing an Mn powder (2) and an S powder (3) into an Fe-based metal powder (5) is subjected to compaction molding. By sintering a green compact (7) obtained by compaction molding, the Mn powder (2) is reacted with the S powder (3) by utilizing the heat during the sintering, thereby producing an Fe-based sintered metal bearing (1) containing MnS in the Fe-based sintered metal. |
