<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin polarizing plate which does not deteriorate visibility in a display screen regardless of angles at which the display screen is seen through polarizing sunglasses, and to provide a display device thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A second polarizing plate 50 on the display side includes a polarizer layer 53 which polarizes incident light and emits it, and an optically anisotropic layer 56 of coating type which is arranged on the side from which the light is emitted in the polarizer 53. In addition, the polarizing plate 50 preferably includes an alignment film 55, as a molecule fixing layer, which is a film which contacts the optically anisotropic layer 56, the molecule fixing layer fixing the orientation of the molecules of an optically anisotropic material to a random state or an intermediate state between the random state and the alignment-complete state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
