The invention relates to a digital amplifier ((A11)) receiving a digital input signal (IS) and providing a digital modulated signal (OS") including a noise component (N) inserted by a digital modulator. The device includes means (MT12, ADET) for applying a gain (G, 1/G) to the input signal (IS) or a signal (QS) derived from the input signal and flowing through the modulator when the amplitude (X) of the input signal (IS) is lower than a threshold (TH) in order to increase the signal/noise ratio between the modulated signal (OS") provided by the modulator and the noise (N) inserted by the modulator.
