The device has a maintaining unit to maintain a switching shaft (3) in a stable position with respect to a case (2), and including opposed balls (16a, 16b). A helical compression spring (17) transmits an effort to the balls to separate the balls. Guiding tracks (9a, 9b, 10a, 10b, 11a, 11b) are integrated to the case and receive the corresponding balls. The tracks delimit different stable positions of the shaft with respect to the case. The shaft is in sliding pivot connection with respect to the case, where the connection has a bearing (4) with an outer ring (7) made of sheet iron.
