PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor enabling a very small feed load generated when a fine hole is formed to be stably measured.

SOLUTION: The spindle motor 100 includes: a cylindrical casing 110; a motor 120; a drilling tool gripping section 150, a rotating body 130 rotatable integrally with the rotating shaft of the motor 120 in the cylindrical casing 110, transmitting the rotational force of the motor 210 to the drilling tool gripping section 150, and having a flange section 134 with a front end bearing surface and a rear end bearing surface which is formed on the outer peripheral section; a static air pressure bearing 220 which is fixed to the cylindrical casing 110 in such a manner as to be fine-movable through an elastic member 240 in the feeding direction and which receives the feed load from the drilling tool griping section 150 by pinching the front end bearing surface and the rear end bearing surface of the flange section 134; and a feed load measuring device 140 for measuring the feed load according to the displacement of the static air pressure bearing 220 in the feeding direction.
