<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that improves moisture resistance by suppressing absorption of moisture, particularly through the cut surface of a polarizer, a method for manufacturing the same, an optical film that utilizes the polarizing plate, and an image display device. <P>SOLUTION: A protective film is adhered to at least one side of the polarizer of the polarizing plate with an adhesive. The protective film has moisture permeability of 150g/m<SP>2</SP>24h or lower in a 40°C, 90% RH atmosphere. At least one edge of the polarizing plate has a cut surface. A fused material layer that continues from the cut surface of the protective film to a cut surface of the polarizer is formed so as to cover the cut surface of the polarizer. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the protective film is greater than the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polarizer by at least 30°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
