<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenolic resin foam having an excellent heat-insulating performance and an excellent mechanical strength such as compression strength, and improving brittleness by using as a foaming agent a hydrocarbon with low global warming potential and less risk of ozone layer destruction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A phenolic resin foam has a closed-cell content of 80% or more, an average cell diameter of 10 μm or more and 400 μm or less, and density of 10 kg/m<SP>3</SP>or more and 70 kg/m<SP>3</SP>or less, contains a hydrocarbon in the closed cells, and consists of a phenolic structure having a urea-crosslinked structure. The phenolic resin foam has brittleness of 20% or less, compression strength of 0.5 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>or more, and heat conductivity of 0.025 kcal/mhr°C or less. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
