PURPOSE:To obtain a negative image free from fog, high in sensitivity and contrast, high in max. density, suitable for rapid processing, and small in an amt. of silver to be used by incorporating an electron donor having low oxidation half wave potential in a buffer soln. specified in pH in a photosensitive photographic element. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive photographic element contains an electron donor having oxidation half wave potential lower than a compd. (SRR) for reacting with the oxidation product of a developing agent produced by development in a buffer soln. in a pH of 13 at 25 deg.C and releasing a compd. acting as a solubilizing agent of metal grains having no sensitivity or a dissolution and physical development promoter. As a preferable example of an electron donor, a compd. having low oxidation potential in an alkaline soln., that is, having reducing property, such as substd. hydroquinone, is enumerated. Said SRR compd. is exemplified by a compd. represented by the formula shown here. |
