<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a double fed synchronous generator motor for use in a variable-speed pumped storage power generation system, wherein the variable speed width can be expanded in the low-rotational speed range during power generating operation and thus the operation can be carried out with enhanced efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The double fed synchronous generator motor is coupled with a reversible pump-turbine 2 and operated in a power generating operation mode or a pumping operation mode. The generator motor is provided with a controller (power control circuit 10) that varies excitation current and thereby carries out control so that power output by the double fed synchronous generator motor 1 agrees with a command value and its number of revolutions falls in a range between an upper limit value and a lower limit value. In the power generating operation mode, the lower limit value is varied by effective power output by the double fed synchronous generator motor. When the effective power is low, the lower limit value is reduced to a value lower, compared with the case where the effective power is high. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
