<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader for appropriately decoding even when information codes have been imaged in small sizes, and reducing the time required for the decoding as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: When reading the information codes, an information code reader (optical information reader) detected a predetermined feature part arranged in a code area of image data and composed of a plurality of cells, and calculates a pixel assignment degree to each cell of the feature part on the basis of the image of the detected feature part and a plurality of pixels constituting the image of the feature part.
