<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant applying device configured to prevent degradation in cleaning characteristics even when a blade used for cleaning prior to application of a lubricant fails to develop its function. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricant applying device is provided with: first and second blades 14A, 17D, respectively, as a member for cleaning and as a lubricant smoothing member after the lubricant is applied, for a first image carrier carrying a toner on its surface and a second image carrier 1 to which the toner image is transferred. The first blade 14A and the second blade 17D comprise rubber blades the top ends of which are in contact with the image carrier 1 in a counter direction. The relationship of contact angles of the top ends with respect to the image carrier 1 is set at α°≥β°, wherein α° and β° represent contact angles of the first blade 14A and of the second blade 17D, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
