<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has a high capacity, especially, has a high current density and superior charge and discharge characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a current collector and an active material layer; the active material layer has a first active material layer containing scale-like active material particles; the scale-like active material particles have the bottom part on the current collector side; the head part on the surface side of the first active material layer; and a flat part between the bottom part and the head part.
