<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a precise and easy-to-use characteristic impedance measuring method for an open drop type signal line, and a termination resistor setting method for setting an impedance by using the characteristic impedance measuring method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The characteristic impedance measuring method includes; a step of inputting a square wave signal to a signal line 100 from a signal generating means 11 which connected to one end B of the signal line via a reference-use transmission line 14 having a reference impedance; and a step of computing a characteristic impedance by using a control means 13, based on the reference impedance and a reflection coefficient obtained from a ratio of an incident wave voltage to an reflected wave voltage being measured after inputting the square wave signal.
