PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering damper system capable of achieving a comfortable steering operation even when abnormality occurs in a steering angle sensor, and to provide a saddle ride type vehicle equipped with the same. SOLUTION: A running state of the saddle ride type vehicle is determined from a steering angle and a vehicle speed detected by a steering angle sensor 14 and a vehicle speed sensor 15, respectively. According to the running state, a damping force command output unit 32 adjusts a damping force of an MR damper 20. When a center detection switch 19 detects a center position of the steering, an abnormality determination part 40 reads the steering angle detected by the steering angle sensor 14, and determines whether or not the detected steering angle is within a previously set steering angle range. When the detected steering angle is not within the previously set steering angle range, it is determined that the abnormality occurs in the steering angle sensor 14 so as to substantially minimize the damping force of the steering forcibly. Therefore, the rider of the saddle ride type vehicle can comfortably perform the steering operation even when the abnormality occurs in the steering angle sensor 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
