<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which appropriately reduces the circuit scale of a semiconductor chip and prevents read characteristics from being deteriorated by self-heating caused by environmental variation or continuous drive. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image reader includes a plurality of photoelectric conversion sections each illuminating a document, receiving reflection light reflected from the document and outputting image information. Furthermore, the image reader divides image information outputted from each of the photoelectric conversion sections into a plurality of blocks in the main scanning direction of the photoelectric conversion section, obtains the image information in an order of blocks different for each photoelectric conversion section, couples pieces of the image information obtained by the division, for each of a plurality of blocks and corrects a linear property between the blocks.
