<p>A lubricating oil composition for shock absorbers which comprises a base oil consisting of a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil and having a viscosity index of 95 or above, (A) 0.1 to 2.0% by mass of an alkenylsuccinimide, (B) 0.1 to 2.0% by mass of an acid diester of phosphorous acid having a C6-10 hydrocarbon group, and (C) 0.001 to 0.3% by mass of at least one salt selected from among overbased, sulfonates, phenate and salicylates of alkaline earth metals, each percentage being based on the total amount of the composition. When applied to an automobile shock absorber, the lubricating oil composition enhances the frictional force between oil seal and piston rod of the shock absorber and lowers the coefficient of friction between piston rod and pilot bush, while the lubricating oil composition is inhibited from foaming. Thus, the lubricating oil composition improves the driving stability of an automobile in traveling, so that a comfortable ride is attained even when an automobile travels while receiving a lateral load caused by a small difference in the level of a road.</p> |
