PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the deterioration of an image due to the variation in the scanning magnification ratio of laser light with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes: a light source which emits beam light; a deflecting and scanning means which deflects and scans the beam light emitted from the light source; a detection means which detects the beam light from the deflecting and scanning means; and a driving means which drives the deflecting and scanning means. Further, the optical scanner includes: a mirror face identification means which identifies a mirror face which deflects the beam light among a plurality of mirror faces that the deflecting and scanning means has; a storage means which stores control timing information which shows the timing of accelerating or decelerating the driving means; and a control means which controls the driving of the driving means. Particularly, the control means controls the driving of the driving means so as to accelerate or decelerate the driving means or keep the speed of the driving means constant on the basis of the detected result of the detection means. Further the control means controls the driving of the driving means on the basis of the identified result of the mirror face identification means and the control timing information stored in the storage means.
