PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock-absorbing steering device with less dispersion in shock-absorbing load without need for provision of a new member. SOLUTION: The shock-absorbing steering device 1 is provided with a jacket 11 for rotatably supporting a steering shaft 4. The jacket 11 includes an inner tube 17 and an outer tube 18 directly fitted relatively slidably in an axial direction X1. The inner tube 17 incldes a cylindrical body part 33 and a tapered diameter-contraction part 34 extending from the body part 33 to an end part, and the outer tube 18 includes a cylindrical body part 35 and a reversely tapered diameter-enlargement part 36 extending from the body part 35 to the end part and suitable for the diameter-contraction part 34. The diameter-contraction part 34 and the diameter-enlargement part 36 are inclined at equal inclination anglesθ1,θ2 in an opposite direction to each other.
