PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of curbing memory consumption and shortening the time required for channel selection processing. SOLUTION: Immediately after channel selection processing has started, when a tuner is unstable, stream control means estimates the identifier of a video packet from the ratio and bit rate, even when the information necessary for channel selection is not acquired. Furthermore, the stream control means determines when to store and output which transport packet to curb memory consumption.
