<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens that has a high variable power ratio and has high optical performance capable of sufficiently coping with the use of a solid-state imaging device, for example, even when the solid-state imaging device that has a wide angle of view. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes, in order from the object side to the image side, a first lens group of negative refractive power, a second lens group of positive refractive power, and a third lens group of positive refractive power. The zoom lens performs zooming by changing intervals between the lens groups. In a lens G11 closest to the object side in the first group and a lens group G21 closest to the object side in the second lens group, a lens face on at least one of the object side and the image side is aspherical.
