PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further naturally reproduce the gradation of an object in a specific region in an image. SOLUTION: In carrying out gradation correction to a frame image, a correction object region is set in the frame image of a gradation correction object, one or more frame images are extracted as a reference frame image(s) from frame images before and after the frame image of the gradation correction object, and an image region corresponding to the image in the correction object region is detected from the reference frame image(s) as a corresponding region. A gradation conversion curve for improving image quality in the correction object region in the frame image of the gradation correction object is determined based on the luminance information of the correction object region in the frame image of at least the gradation correction object and luminance information in the corresponding region in the reference frame image(s), and the gradation of the frame image of the gradation object is corrected by the gradation conversion curve.
