摘要 PURPOSE:To record an intermediate-gradation image with excellent uniformity and reproduction properties, by a system wherein a printed density in an intermediate saturation region is 25-75% based on a saturated printed density. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer material has at least one intermediate saturation region in the range of 20-80%, preferably, 30-70% of a saturated printing energy, and the printed density in the region is 25-75% based on a saturated printed density, preferably, 33-67%. If the intermediate saturation region is below 20% of the saturated printing energy, a thermal transfer layer unfavorably has transferrability to a recording material at temperatures close to normal temperature. On the other hand, if the intermediate saturation region is above 80% of the saturated printing energy, it is difficult to control the energy being applied. If the printed density in the intermediate saturation region is less than 25% based on the saturate printed density, clearness of printed images is unsatisfactory, whereas if the printed density in the intermediate saturation region is more than 75% based on the saturated printed density, an image with an obscure distinction between an intermediate-gradation recorded image and an ordinary recorded image is obtained from visual point of view.
