<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for operating an avionics system including a headset and a head-up display based on the gesture of a pilot. <P>SOLUTION: This system detects the position and direction of the head set worn by the pilot, and switches the head-up display from a first operation mode to a second operation mode in response to the detection of a predetermined action of the position and the direction.
