<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for improving security of information used in setting a device. <P>SOLUTION: A device setting apparatus comprises: a device setting part; a reception part for receiving device setting information for setting the device from a device setting information distribution apparatus connected to the device setting apparatus through a network; and a storage part for temporarily storing the device setting information. The device setting information includes essential setting information for essential setting of a series of the device settings, and optional setting information for optional setting conducted prior to the essential setting. The reception part receives the optional setting information necessary for the device setting from the device setting information distribution apparatus after receiving the essential setting information from the device setting information distribution apparatus first.
