PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate recording data while suppressing computational complexity and a data amount, without having to provide special hardware. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus which generates a recording file 94 for displaying a series of moving images from among a plurality of still image data constituting frame data, respectively, is provided with: an extraction unit 105, which extracts successive identical still image data in the series of moving images; a still image file generation unit 106 which generates a still image file 213, constituted of one still image data on the basis of the still image data extracted by the extraction unit 105; a moving image file generating unit 107, which generates a moving image file 214, on the basis of still image data which are not extracted; and a data generation unit 108, which generates display instruction data, wherein a display pattern when displaying the series of moving images is displayed are described, on the basis of the still image file 213 and the moving image file 214.
