<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a pattern forming body which can be used for a variety of purposes such as a color filter and has patterns of different characteristics on the surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In order to attain the purpose, a photocatalyst-containing layer side substrate having a photocatalyst-containing layer containing a photocatalyst and a base body; and a substrate for pattern forming body having a characteristic change layer whose characteristic is changed by an act of the photocatalyst included in the photocatalyst-containing layer are arranged in such a manner that the space between the photocatalyst-containing layer and the characteristic change layer is ≤200 μm. Thereafter, a characteristic change pattern whose characteristic is changed is formed on the surface of the characteristic change layer by irradiating an electron ray from a prescribed direction.
