<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely prevent dust from entering the image reading apparatus in addition to achievement of cost reduction with the small number of components and improving the maintenability of a slit glass. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes: an image reading means 16 for reading original documents under conveyance; the slit glass 36 for guiding each of the conveyed original documents; a guiding member 71 provided adjacently with the slit glass 36 and picking up each of the conveyed original documents; and a dust fall preventing member 101 attached on the surface except the original document conveyance surface of the slit glass 36 and the original document conveyance surface of the guiding member 71 and receiving dust falling between the slit glass 36 and the guiding member. In the dust fall preventing member 101, a non-adhesive region 101D which does not adhere to the slit glass 36 and the guiding member 71 is provided between the adhesive region 101A to the slit glass and the adhesive region 101B to the guiding member.
